As it was explained to me by Garmin Italy Support, the watch will normally show the altitude +/- 50 meters, being a barometric altimeter. You can contact your local Garmin Support, explain them the situation, send them pictures or video when the altimeter is acting up, maybe they will replace it, but for that "minor" difference of altitude, if Hi all, i'm looking to see if any other community members have had similar issues before I contact Garmin support. I have a 3 month old Fenix 6X Pro, i have been using it successfully for the last few months marathon training. At some point during yesterdays run, the optical HR sensor and a number of other features stopped working. The issue with them was the altimeter just completely going altogether after a few months. I have done a full reset on it today as advised by Garmin and hopefully tomorrow’s run will be an improvement. I had it set to Altimeter mode which did give a very slight improvement. It seems to be better not having the continuos calibration on too.

In 2017 I bought my first Garmin… Was a Fenix 5 Sapphire, after 3 years, the barometer broke. I contacted to Garmin and they changed my watch for a Garmin Fenix 6 (free of charge). After two years the Fenix 6 showed problems with the barometer, I contacted to Garmin Argentina and they replaced the barometer sensor (whit cost). Since update to V12 firmware, I'm experiencing issues with the altimeter of my Fenix 5. A few hours after the upgrade, on December 14th, I went for a 11km run and got totally messed up elevation data. I live in Belgium (Minimum : Sea level - Maximum: 600m), and I had a minimum altitude of -500m and a Max of 10649m (Screenshot 1)
Sets the sensor used in watch mode. The Auto option uses both the altimeter and barometer according to your movement. You can use the Altimeter option when your activity involves changes in altitude, or the Barometer option when your activity does not involve changes in altitude. Pressure. Sets how the device displays pressure data.
Inaccurate altimeter, should I factory reset? GaryMort over 3 years ago. My wife and I both have Fenix 6 Pro watches (latest 8.10 SW) and until recently both recorded a very similar elevation gain for the runs we do together, which I should expect. However, for the past week my elevation has be approximately 100ft more than my wife's which is a
fenix 6x altimeter issue. Often sweat, some dust, or other small items get into that hole, it often needs to be cleaned, I personally replaced the lower case on the Garmin Fenix 5x because the barometer sensors failed. Last two bike rides have 2x more altitude gained than there really is. Looking at the graph, it is jagged totally.
I checked the Fenix 6X HR wrist sensor again today on an easy recovery run and it turned out the wrist HR values are pretty muc h useless now. See the HR sensor data in the chart. The red values are from the built-in wrist sensor of the Garmin Fenix 6X Pro device. The green values are from the Garmin HR belt captured by an old Garmin Fenix 5X DSIYVC5.
